Anime Clash: Bringing Anime Action to the Battlefield

When Clash of Clans decided to dive headfirst into the vibrant world of Anime for their August season, they knew they needed something special to captivate their players. We delivered.

Our mission was to bring CoC’s anime-inspired in-game event narrative to life, creating a high-octane frame-by-frame animation that blended the dynamic energy of classic Anime intros with the battle-ready universe of Clash of Clans.

This project marked Clash of Clans' first venture into Anime-style campaigns, introducing a fresh visual and narrative approach to promote the game’s slew of in-game content. While it was an exciting opportunity, it also posed the challenge of finding the right way to bring this new style to life.

What We Set Out To Do

Our mission was to immerse Clash of Clans players in the thrilling new Anime-themed season while narrating the gripping story of the upcoming challenge event. Recognizing the global appeal of Anime and its potential to captivate our audience, we aimed to craft a visually stunning and narrative-rich animation that would resonate deeply with players.

Understanding our audience was crucial. With a significant presence in the US, India, Brazil, Mexico, and the Philippines, we tailored our strategy to engage Clash of Clans players on social media, enticing them to explore the new in-game content. By blending dynamic Anime aesthetics with the familiar Clash of Clans universe, we sought to create an unforgettable experience that would drive player engagement and excitement across the globe.

Creative Concept

Recognising the massive global fanbase of Anime, we crafted an engaging frame-by-frame animation that would resonate with both Clash of Clans players and Anime enthusiasts. Our vision was to blend the dynamic action of traditional Anime intros with the narrative of the upcoming in-game event, capturing the excitement and visual appeal of Anime while effectively communicating the event's story. This approach not only tapped into the cultural zeitgeist but also aligned perfectly with our goal of creating a captivating and immersive experience for players worldwide.

Creative Approach



Our process began with brainstorming story ideas that balanced narrative clarity with Anime-style action. The team developed detailed character sheets and an art style, which were essential since this was a new approach for both us and Supercell. Collaborating with the artists, we ensured a smooth production process within budget and timeline constraints.

Execution

We merged the heart-pounding action of classic Anime intros with the captivating narrative of the upcoming in-game event, aiming to capture the vibrant energy and visual appeal of Anime while seamlessly conveying the event's story. The sound design had to complement the fast-paced, action-oriented visuals, resulting in a unique auditory experience for viewers. The result was an engaging frame-by-frame animation that thrilled both Clash of Clans players and Anime fans alike. This strategic approach not only met but exceeded our goals, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience that resonated with players worldwide.
